So I’ve decided to make a couple of posts letting people know what will change from the versions of these books that were published in Inkitt, to the versions that I will be pushing for publication moving forward. You can read Loving Lakyn's here.
-
A brand new chapter one which you can read here
-
Less Quinton, more of Lena’s mom
-
Because of that, there’s some different scenes with Lena’s mom that weren’t in the original, and more of Juliet where conversations with Quin were
-
Kaitlynn was a creation in Lakyn and Scott’s life that came after Just Juliet, so she’s added in there now
-
Some clean up with grammar and spelling that was missed with the original editors, and I fixed some of the awkward writing that my 2016 self had
-
After writing Saving Scott I decided that the scene where Lena picks him up drunk doesn’t make sense with his character development, so that conversation happens at the James house, when they’re both up in the middle of the night, and Scott is sober
-
Scott and Lena’s conversation when he tells her how he came out changed given that his father is no longer in his life and he only lives with his mom. His mother is also mentioned at his wedding with Lakyn at the end.
-
I changed Georgia’s name because I didn’t realize it was pronounced like the state I thought it was pronounced like George-Gia and to keep myself from being a mess when I speak in public I changed it to GeorgiNa. Georgina. Yeah.
-
I fixed a lot of the accidental racism that slipped in when I was writing Lacey. I admit, that as a white person, my desire to make sure that people knew Lacey was black meant that I stereotyped her quite hard. I took everything that I saw POC point out about it as racist and erased those things.
And... I think that is all, but if anyone who has read the new version notices something I missed, please let me know!
